Peter Nagel is licensed in North Carolina as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.. Mr. Nagel is certified as an Advanced TA Practitioner . Mr. Nagel has presented workshops to professional organizations across North Carolina on topics such as Developmental Couples Therapy, The Role of the Group Leader, Counseling Hostile-Dependent Couples, Using Personality to Guide Psychotherapy and Helping Clients to Reclaim Integrity after Infidelity. For more than 40 years, Peter has committed to providing the highest quality, state of the art methods of evidence based practices to adults seeking personal growth and relationship enhancement. Before moving his independent practice to Brunswick County, NC in 2019, Mr. Nagel provided exceptional psychotherapy services to residents of Randolph, Richmond, Scotland, Montgomery and Moore Counties for 40+ years.
Mr. Nagel received intensive training in Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor (PBSP) method from the late Albert Pesso who developed and refined this theory of body-based psychotherapy over five decades with his late wife, Diane Boyden. Peter actively participated for more than 6 years in a monthly psychotherapy training group with the late Pam White, LCSW in Asheville, NC. Pam was recognized as a Certified PBSP Supervisor.
Mr. Nagel attended six years of post-graduate training at The Southeast Institute for Group & Family Therapy in Chapel Hill, NC with Vann Joines, PhD, LMFT in Redecision Therapy, Personality Adaptations and Personality Disorders. Peter completed the 28 hour Externship for Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) as well as 48 hours of EFT Core Skills Training with Lorrie Brubacher, LMFT at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC-G). Ms. Brubacher is a prominent couples therapist, AAMFT clinical supervisor and EFT trainer.
EFT was conceptualized and primarily developed by Dr. Susan Johnson over the past three decades. Dr. Johnson has presented educational workshops and clinical training & clinical supervision in EFT for marriage therapists world-wide.
